The BPT Occupational Therapy Experience
Your Evaluation
Your physician ordered personal OT program begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your current limitations from illness, surgery or disability as they relate to your ability to independently complete your activities of daily living. Our experienced team of Masters Degree level Occupational Therapists will perform comprehensive assessments to understand what exactly is limiting your current ability to complete the tasks you want to or need to complete in order to manage or overcome your current limitations. Your OT will work closely with you and your physician in developing a personalized Plan of Care that will outline areas that will be addressed in order for you to meet your goals.
Your Treatment
You will begin working on your OT action plan on day one. You will start completing therapy activities that are designed to help enable you to make the changes that are needed to improve your ability to complete the tasks required to care for yourself including developing the skills, strength and improvements needed to manage your environment or injury. You will receive a home program that will compliment your clinic visits and education on how to perform or modify activities that you are currently unable or find hard to complete. Our adult outpatient OT’s specialize in upper extremity surgical and non-surgical injuries to the hand, wrist and elbow. Treatments may include improvement in range of motion, pain control, strengthening, manual techniques including therapeutic massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, adaptive equipment use and activity modification techniques. You will find our large staff ready to help you with your daily challenges and get you back to independence.
The Facility
BPT is located in Stanleytown, VA and encompasses 8,000 square feet of treatment space. There are separate entrances for our adult clinic, BPT and our attached pediatric clinic, BPTKidz. There are two large gyms, two waiting rooms, private treatment rooms and a pool for aquatic therapy. Our clinic has been designed with the patient in mind first. You will find a family environment with Christian values and a team that is ready to help you in your time of need.
